2011; The year I got enrolled in the Media studies department at IoBM. The four year long journey had been nothing more than a blessing. Iobm with its state of the art facilities has been the force which helped me reach where I am today. The teachers have been mentors and the exposure I got here has been the driving force in my career. I studied on a 100% scholarship throughout my 4 years at IoBM, part of it was on merit, but the other half was because IoBM has always been keen on helping its students going through a financial crunch during their university years. In the third year, I got selected for a fully funded exchange program to Bilkent University, which is one of the most prestigious universities in Turkey. This type of exposure broadens your horizon and teaches you what is hard to put in words. During these 4 beautiful years, we were able to experience and utilise the state of the art facilities and opportunities that are seldom heard from other institutions. During my time at IoBM, I had also been one of the core team members of the media society that created quite a buzz on campus with its glamorous events put together for the students and by the students. Four great years down with numerous media projects and a Merit certificate, I would recommend IoBM for all. Thank you IoBM for being our home, always.
Ramsha Kohati (Media Studies Batch 2 - Class of 2015)
September 6, 2010. It's been almost a decade when I entered the room 114 down at the basement for the first lecture of the newly launched Media Studies programme. I was nervous and so were the 21 odd faces waiting for the session to kick off. Little did I know that those 21 odd faces would soon become an important part of my life. So much so that to this date we would recall our time back in school and laugh our hearts out. Almost all of them are doing great in different personal and professional capacities. Some moved to other cities, some to other countries but what remained between us was a strong bond - all thanks to IoBM. IoBM's Media Studies department will continue to have a special place in my heart for it was here, under the supervision of some of best teachers in the country, I discovered myself as a person and learned skills that would go on to help me win not only a national award but also the prestigious Erasmus Mundus scholarship to pursue a master's degree in Europe alongside journalists from 32 different nationalities. IoBM was more than a school for me... it was like a home. To this date, whenever I felt like stuck in a difficult decision regarding switching jobs or a boss giving tough time at work or even a matter of personal concern, I know I just need to hit the digits and barge into the offices of Sabeen Jamil, Ejaz Sahab or Nabhan. IoBM is more than a school - it is a family that's growing big and strong with each batch passing out and I am proud to associate myself with it.
